Restore My Window is a premium manufacturer and installer of traditional wooden windows and doors in London and the surrounding areas. Every project is approached with care, experience, and respect for the original building.
We don't just patch up old timber, we structurally renew it. Our systematic approach ensures your historic sash or casement windows look beautiful, glide smoothly, and are fully sealed against the volatile London weather.
We carefully remove your window sashes from their frames to inspect hidden areas for structural rot. Old, flaking paint is safely stripped down to bare timber, allowing us to accurately assess the health of the original wood grain and joint stability.
Instead of ripping out historic timber, we cut out defective, rotten sections. We then splice in matching premium hardwood (like Accoya) and bond it securely using specialized marine-grade epoxy resins to restore the window's original structural integrity.
We replace worn-out sash cords with heavy-duty, waxed cotton lines and service the original pulleys. Every window is meticulously re-counterbalanced with lead or iron weights to guarantee smooth, effortless opening and closing without jamming.
We route hidden, high-performance weather-stripping brushes directly into the timber beads. This creates an airtight seal that eliminates rattles and cold draughts. Finally, we apply a micro-porous primer coat, leaving it perfectly prepped for finishing.

We are a Charity and we couldn’t be happier with the incredible work Andrea has done on our sash windows. The first phase of the project was completed two years ago, when he restored 10 windows that were, quite honestly, on the verge of falling apart. Thanks to his craftsmanship and attention to detail, they were brought back to absolute perfection. What truly sets Andrea apart, beyond his exceptional skill, is his character. He is kind, honest, and incredibly respectful of the home he’s working in. At the end of every single day, he left the property spotless, always ensuring that furniture and surrounding areas were carefully protected throughout the process. We were living in the property during the restoration, and Andrea went above and beyond to accommodate this. He worked in a way that caused minimal disruption to our daily lives, which made a huge difference. We also have cats and dogs who are very sensitive to noise and dust, and Andrea showed remarkable consideration for them. When working on windows in areas where the pets spend most of their time, he kept noise levels to a minimum—sometimes even sanding by hand instead of using electric tools, just to avoid distressing them. This year, he returned to complete the ground floor bay window, and once again, the result is fantastic. His consistency, care, and pride in his work are evident in every detail. On top of everything, Andrea is simply a pleasure to have around—always calm, cheerful, and with a great sense of humour. It made the whole experience not just stress-free, but genuinely enjoyable. We wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for high-quality window restoration carried out with integrity, skill, and genuine care. The Belforte Trust

Exceptional standards of workmanship. Andrea restored the very large and dilapidated sash windows on our project, a grade 2 listed building requiring the works to meet heritage standards. Sections had to be cut out, matched and replaced whilst adding draught prevention measures. The windows looked amazing and met all requirements from Listed Planning.

Wooden window replacement is absolutely worth considering when your frames have suffered significant structural damage, warping, or rot beyond repair. However, in many London period and Victorian properties, timber window restoration is often the smarter investment, preserving the original character of your home while bringing performance up to modern standards. A full wooden window restoration can extend the life of your frames by 20–30 years at a fraction of the replacement cost. We always recommend a professional assessment first, as what looks like a replacement job is often a timber window refurbishment.
Yes, in most cases, rotted wood windows can be repaired rather than replaced. Our timber window repairs service uses specialist epoxy fillers and wood hardeners to rebuild damaged sections, including rotted window trim and frame joints. Window refurbishment of this kind is structurally sound and, once painted, virtually invisible. The key factor is how deep the rot has penetrated, surface and mid-level rot is almost always repairable, while full-frame decay may require a section replacement. Either way, a timber window maintenance plan after repair is essential to prevent recurrence.
Late autumn and winter, typically November through February, tend to be the most cost-effective time to have windows replaced or restored, as demand for window restoration in London drops and tradespeople have more availability. Many window restoration companies, including our team, offer more flexible scheduling during these months. That said, pricing for our window restoration London service remains consistent year-round, and we’d always rather help you plan the right solution than rush a job in peak season.
Absolutely, timber windows remain one of the most sought-after choices for home renovations, particularly in conservation areas and period properties across London. As a specialist window restoration company, we supply and fit traditional timber windows for restoration projects, matching original profiles, glazing bars, and joinery to your existing architecture. Renovating with timber windows is increasingly popular with homeowners who want the warmth, authenticity, and sustainability of wood over plastic. We also handle commercial window restoration for listed buildings, hotels, and heritage sites where original timber must be preserved or matched. Whether you need a single sash replaced or a full building refurbishment, timber window restoration is very much alive and well.
