Project Overview
Our team recently executed a meticulous timber window refurbishment at The Royal Automobile Club, situated at 89 Pall Mall, London (SW1Y 5HS). The project involved the careful removal of the original wooden casements to perform comprehensive structural upgrades and enhance thermal efficiency.
The Work Executed
To upgrade the performance of the existing installations, our craftsmen followed a precise restoration and glazing workflow:
- Preparation & Stripping: Carefully removed the original timber frames, stripping back old layers of paint and weathered putty before preparing the internal rebates for new glass integration.
- Priming & Protection: Treated the prepared frameworks with a high-durability, weather-resistant primer system to safeguard the timber core.
- Slimline Glazing Integration: Installed premium 9mm SlenderFit Solo double-glazed units, combining specialised Goethe glass, an integrated acoustic interlayer, and Opti-White K glass for advanced insulation.
- Repairs & Draft Proofing: Completed focused timber repairs across the casements and fitted new, high-performance draught-proof brush seals.
- Ironmongery Realignment: Carefully refitted all of the original hardware and components back onto the structures.
The Result
The completed architectural upgrades ensure that the original casement windows operate smoothly. By combining traditional joinery techniques with modern materials, the project drastically improves internal insulation and energy efficiency without altering the property’s appearance.
